you-all back for this year's build here now.
i see a letter at bottom about our BHN internship program so read it if you 
are interested and pass it along to anyone you think might be.

The Fifth Annual BUILD HERE NOW!  Natural Building and Permaculture
Convergence is happening July 6-13, 2003 at the Lama Foundation in Taos 
County, New Mexico.

Lama Foundation is situated on 105 acres of high alpine forest in northern 
New Mexico at an altitude of 8600 feet. The land is regenerating in the 
wake of the 7000-acre 1996 Hondo Fire. Convergence participants are welcome 
to join in Lama's daily schedule of early morning silent meditation or 
yoga, afternoon classes and evening activities such as Dances of Universal 
Peace, singing, chanting, and other forms of spiritual practice.

Schedule of events - The Convergence will begin Sun., July 6 with 
registration from 3-5 PM, dinner at 6 PM and evening greetings and 
orientation at 7:30 PM. Days will be filled through July 13 with concurrent 
workshops in natural building, permaculture, appropriate technology, and 
community building. Afternoon field trips to Taos Pueblo and local natural 
building sites are planned for midweek.  Evenings will include slide 
presentations, Dances of Universal Peace and music.

Lodging options - Lama provides dorm spaces that can accommodate up to 15 
at an extra cost of $5 per night. Bring your own bedding or sleeping 
bag.  On sight RV and tent sites are also available. There are hotels in 
Taos and Questa.

Travel information - The Albuquerque airport is 3 hours from the site.

Cost - Before May 1, 2003, $475; after May 1, $575 for the 7-day 
event.  Children 5-16 half price (childcare not provided).  Per day 
participation is $100.  Cost includes three vegetarian meals per day and 
on-site lodging.

Note:  A $50 processing fee will be withheld on all refund requests. During 
the three weeks prior to the Convergence the entire deposit is non-refundable.

Dear Build Here Now 2003 interested intern:

Thank you for your interest in the Build Here Now internship 
program.  Build Here Now is shaping up to be a fun filled and educational 
week.  There will be two sessions of BHN internships.  You must prepay to 
secure your spot.

June 8  July 13
July 6   August 5

All interns are asked to participate in community life by attending, 
morning practice and tuning, the morning meditation and the other 
activities.  Interns will be asked to participate in the full period of the 
internship in order to attend BHN for free.  There will be 10 spots 
available for each session.  Interns may be asked to help support our 
retreat program during camps.

The first group of Build Here Now interns will be asked to arrive on June 
8th.  We will be responsible for all of the preliminary setup for 
BHN.  This will include site prep for all of the different permaculture and 
natural building projects that will take place during BHN.  This is a great 
chance to have hands on experience with a straw bale structure from the 
ground up.  We are planning to raise a small straw bale house a few weeks 
before BHN.

The second group of BHN interns will be asked to arrive on July 5th, the 
day before Build Here Now begins.  As a Build Here Now 2003 intern you will 
be participating in the workshop and finishing up projects that need 
completion once Build Here Now is over.  If you are more interested in 
finish work, earthen plasters, earthen floors, and seeing the culmination 
of months of work and planning this is the time to come.

Both internships will be crammed full of great learning for the beginner 
and experienced builder.  The projects will include straw bale, earth bag, 
cob, adobe, timber frame and straw clay construction.  We will also be 
doing earthen plasters, lime plasters, earthen floors, rubble trench 
foundations, solar electric and hot water systems, rock work, composting 
toilets, land/road reclamation, road building, water catchment, and water 
management, as well as a variety of other permaculture and building projects.

Interns will be asked to prepay a $140.00 fee to cover basic expenses, your 
spot will not be held until Lama has received you security payment.  If you 
can't pay you will still be considered.   Interns are encouraged to attend 
both sessions.   Those interested will be asked to pay $180.00 for both 
sessions, only $40.00 more to attend both sessions!!!!  We would also like 
to encourage interns to consider staying on for the Lama Summer Staff 
program. Interns will not be charged the BHN camp fee of $575.00.
