So many great things have taken place over the decades at  our beloved community college, SBCC, seems like an important topic and panel for all of us, including those in permaculture circles.  A true community resource…

Is everyone aware there is a beautiful Permaculture demonstration landscape & garden unfolding on the SBCC West Campus?  Student led, and their hard work,  but helped by all the permaculture events & programs that helped influence over the years  for sure.  Thanks to everybody who made that happen in so many ways, including Mike Gonella, director of Environmental Horticulture, and Adam Green, director of Environmental Studies, both committed and supporting Permaculture programs, and Permaculture Design Course (5 credits), and their remarkable students interested in whole systems approach and way of thinking, that hopefully will help provide solutions for the 21st century.

If you can’t make it to the actual event, it is available livestream and videotaped for later viewing on LWV website.  Margie

League of Women Voters COMMUNITY FORUM MAY 16:  Noon to 2pm

In 2016 the League of Women Voters of California finished its Study of Higher Education, which dealt with widespread criticism of the failure of California's three-tiered system (of Community Colleges, State Universities and UC campuses) to meet the demand for more students ready to join the job market with Baccalaureate degree in hand. The study was in line with both the League's strong general support of public education and especially of the community colleges.

The panelists are:

●Dr. Anthony Beebe, SBCC President

●Geoff Green, Chief Executive Officer, SBCC Foundation

●Melissa Moreno, Interim Vice-President, School of Extended Learning

●Professor Matthew Mooney, Chair, SBCC History Department

●David Panbehchi, Student Member, SBCC Board of Trustees

● Krystle Farmer: Student Leader
