I’d like to thank everyone who contributed to our work at Mesa Harmony Garden this past year, and wish you all a very happy, joyful, and peaceful holiday season and year ahead in 2017.
Here’s some of the activity that went into getting 100s of lbs of fruit flowing from trees to Food Bank…

January: Master Gardeners (Lynne, Tim, Joan and Vicki) helped with our winter planting program of 15 new fruit trees: strawberry guavas, fuju persimmons, and ambrosia pomegranates.

February: Volunteers from local company Rightscale helped plant 26 rose bushes around the outside perimeter of the garden.

March: Board member Fred Owens investigates the depths of the overgrown mallow (now is the time of year to get them before they get this big!!!)

April: Larry Saltzman and Fred Hunter lead our annual workshop on Backyard Food Forests.

May: Master Gardeners Joan Calder and Tim Milham lead a workshop on tool care.

June: Board members Larry Saltzman and Hugh Kelly plant a white sapote tree with a commemorative plaque dedicated to Fr. Ludo on his retirement.

July: A mysterious stranger donates 15 dragonfruit plants to the garden, and explains how to get the best results from growing them (this one is in flower).

August: The Garden has a booth at the annual Mesa Fest – volunteer Lynne Klinkenberg talks to a potential volunteer.

September: Hugh, Fred, Jim and Vicki in front of the new screen they erected to hide the shed from the parking lot.

October: Attendees at our workshop to plan out the new demonstration bed of perennial vegetables came up with these ideas for planting.

November: Over 40 people attended the California Rare Fruit Growers workshop on the best bareroot fruit trees to plant this winter.
