This "Learn It, Build It" training in rain, grey and storm water best management practices is for engineers, planners, students, biologists, park managers and anyone involved in water decisions on ranch/farm, and in urban areas for schools, industry and residential areas. Hosted at the beautiful Return to Freedom Wild Horse Sanctuary near Lompoc, CA. Fee $75.
The first day “Learn It” in class-room topics include water audit basics, grey water in-depth, storm water low impact development principles, water use awareness, water conservation and fisheries, and design methodologies. The second day “Build It” session includes building a grey water laundry to landscape system and rainwater plumbing for best water quality.
The workshop is hosted by the Tri-County FISH Team as part of a three year technical training series funded in part by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife Fisheries Restoration Grant Program.
The Tri-County FISH Team is a partnership between local government agencies, sponsoring agencies, and non-governmental organizations within San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties to develop a regional approach for salmonid restoration in the tri-county area. The mission is to work with federal, state, and local agencies and non-governmental groups to secure funding and implement projects in support of salmonid recovery and habitat enhancement, improve information about restoration and recovery activities, and enhance public understanding and support for such actions.
Central Coast Salmon Enhancement, a nonprofit organization based in San Luis Obispo County, is the coordinator of the FISH Team.
