Listening Sessions: March 17, 18, & 19, 2015
Locations: Santa Maria, Santa Barbara, Solvang
For healthy people, a healthy economy, and a healthy environment
The SANTA BARBARA COUNTY FOOD ACTION PLAN is a
strategy-based community blueprint for an
accessible, thriving, sustainable, and healthy
food system. This will address every aspect of
the food system in a way that supports healthy
people, a healthy economy, and a healthy environment.
These LISTENING SESSIONS are an opportunity for
the community to engage in the development of the
Food Action Plan, and develop strategies for
implementation. Participants will be asked to
contribute based on their professional knowledge,
expertise, or personal experiences.

The FOOD ACTION PLAN will address:
AGRICULTURE VIABILITY
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENT & NATURAL RESOURCES FOOD ACCESS & JUSTICE
HEALTH & NUTRITION
POTENTIAL OUTCOMES
We anticipate the FOOD ACTION PLAN will result in
the following types of outcomes:
* Improve public health in key areas
* Improve food access and security through
* increased small-scale growing
* Improve food literacy through partnership
and common goals with a wide variety of local agencies
* Reduce pollution and waste by promoting a âclosed loopâ food system
* Create a more resilient local food system
to withstand the shocks of natural or man-made disasters
* Promote community economic development
* Inform or influence policy
