Located located just minutes away from the Mayto
Beach, two hours south from Puerto Vallarta on
the Pacific Coast of Mexico, Rancho Sol Y Mar is
a working organic dairy farm, off-grid ranch and solar campground.

create electricity, heat, pump and recycle water,
run electric fencing, as well as for cooking and
dehydrating the organic foods grown on site.
Participants join a medley of farm animals
(chickens, horses, a mischievous burro, an
equally mischievous dog, and a frolicking herd of
happy goats). Ranch produces its own artisan
cheeses. There are adobe, compressed earth block,
stone, and other natural, locally sourced
building materials produced and used on site.
Students participate in permaculture-based work
at the ranch with dairying, composting, solar
system observation, adobe and cob demonstration,
gardening support and watershed restoration. This
class is particularly recommended for
environmental students and educators,
homesteaders, small scale farmers, design
