SARAH RAMIREZ AWARDED FOUNDATIONS FOR CHANGE YAMASHITA PRIZE
Sarah Ramirez (Ph.D. 2010) has been awarded the 2014 Foundations for Change Yamashita Prize!
The Prize, which is sponsored by the Institute for the Study of Societal Issues’ Center for Research on Social Change at UC Berkeley, is awarded annually to an outstanding young social change activist/scholar in California whose work transforms the existing social landscape.
Sarah is cited in particular for her work as a health educator and community activist who embraces direct service, research, and community organizing to improve the lives and health of migrant populations and youth in the Central Valley.
Sarah has also recently been named a “CNN Hero” for her part in founding “a movement to help residents of her impoverished California community gain access to healthy food” (Be Healthy Tulare).
