Sustainable Vocations is a program for youth ages 15-24 that prepares them
for diverse
leadership roles that integrate sustainability into their communities and

Sustainable Vocations is looking for a few bright and energetic men and

The four main areas of responsibility for this position are:

chaperoning their camping experience and supporting their emotional growth.
2) Inspiring the youth's learning through creative mentoring by being a role
model and participating
in the learning process alongside the youth, and bringing the Permaculture
teachings into the
youth's daily experience during the program
3) Teaching the youth how to tend to ones daily life needs, i.e. food
preparation, laundering without
power, solar bathing, keeping ones space energetically clear, gathering
water, chopping wood,
celebrating, etc. This includes origins skills (i.e. basic survival skills,
crafts, music, using one's
hands)
4) Facilitating ongoing community building processes through leading council
and group talking
circles, and modeling non-violent communication
Who we are looking for:
Energetic women and men who have outdoor education experience, experience
working with diverse
youth and families, a zest for learning, good communication skills, camping
and outdoor experience, a
track record of initiative, leadership experience, and integrity.
Any of the below would be plusses:
1) Training in the Art of Mentoring or equivalent; 2) Wilderness First
Responder certification; 3)
Class B driver's license; 4) Permaculture Design Certification (PDC)
(opportunity to take a PDC at
Quail Springs beforehand at discount); 5) Wilderness Skills Training,
Bilingual - English/Spanish;
5) Leadership training
Compensation package includes: This intensive and rewarding position
provides camping and meals
during the program and prep periods (about a month), $1,000 stipend and a
$1,000 credit toward any
Quail Springs course(s) within a two-year period of time. Possible bonus for
candidate with more
experience in the field to serve as Mentor Coordinator.
