This December, there will be an official training in Los Angeles about
Transition initiatives.
The Transition concept is a proactive, community-based response to the twin
challenges of peak oil and climate change. Founded by the UK's Rob Hopkins,
and described in his recent book _The Transition Handbook_ (Green Books,
2008), "Transition Towns" have been forming throughout the UK, Australia,
other worldwide locations, and now in the U.S.
The Transition movement incorporates concepts from Permaculture, plus
relocalization, power-down, local food supplies, rebuilding local
communities and the local economic base, and much more.
This autumn, trainers from the international Transition Network will be in
the U.S. offering a series of trainings for people who want to lead
Transition initiatives in their local communities. We are pleased to host
one of these trainings on December 17-18, 2008 (Weds-Thurs) 9am to 5pm both
days, in the Westchester area of Los Angeles (6 blocks from LAX airport).
