Chocolate: How Your Conscientious Consumption of Chocolate Can Change the World!

Did you know that U.S. consumers eat 2.8 billion pounds of chocolate every year? On Friday, September 21st, at 9:00 am, PST, Sustainable World will air an interview with Dr. Tom Neuhaus, the co-owner of Sweet Earth Organic Chocolates, the only uniquely Fair Trade/Organic artisan chocolatier in the U.S. Tom Neuhaus is also the president and founder of Project Hope & Fairness, an all-volunteer organization that helps exploited African cocoa farmers, encourages the conscientious consumption of cocoa products, and supports Fair Trade policies. Tom is “trying to stimulate interest among Americans, Canadians, and Europeans in the life of cocoa farmers." The purpose of Project Hope and Fairness “is not to do charity, which sometimes implies the superiority of the giver. Instead, it is an exploration of ways to build social, spiritual, and commercial links between consumers and producers. Our long-term goal is to move the cocoa business from its current post-colonial exploitative relationships to the new business model called "social entrepreneurship."

Chocolate lovers of the world unite! Tune in to learn how your eating habits and choices can create positive change on a global level.
