Fellow Ojaians:
The MAC (Municipal Advisory Council) will be hearing a proposal for
the Ozena Valley Ranch Mine to get an expansion of an existing
aggregate mine. Additional truck traffic will go through Ojai. The
meeting is Monday August 21, 2006 at the Oakview Community Center,
18 Valley Drive, Oak View at 7:00 pm.
Ozena wants to open a new 15 acre excavation pond adjacent to the
Cuyama River, increase existing truck trips from 66 Average Daily
Trips to 132 Average Daily Trips, extend the project permit life from
July 2006 to July 2011, change the start of truck loadings from 3:00
am currently to 6:00am, add a rock cutting plant and asphalt/concrete
recycling, and require that all new traffic only use Hwy-33 north
into Santa Barbara County.
What this means to Ojai Valley residents is that all 66 truck trips
go South on Hwy 33 right now and the additional trips will be to add
66 trips going North on Hwy 33.
If you are concerned about increased traffic on Hwy 33, come to the
meeting on Monday night and be heard.
