Part 1: Working in Other Cultures

Gain the skills required for working with
· diverse ethnic groups and multicultural communities
· indigenous peoples and communities
· aid and community development projects.
The course deals with processes and skills to identify & plan approaches
for work with culturally diverse groups, including protocols, appropriate
communications, community development issues, social, cultural and historic
considerations. Includes basic principles of community facilitation and
conflict resolution.
This course provides prerequisite knowledge for Part 2 Pc for Overseas
Development Projects.
APT Accreditation: Cert IV in Pc RTD4802A Develop approaches to include
cultural and human diversity.

Part 2: Pc for Overseas Development Projects
September 12-17, 2005
This course is for people intending to work on overseas projects,
especially in third world situations. It is recommended to first complete
Part 1 Working in Other Cultures before doing this course.
Topics include health and nutrition, food security, appropriate aid and
technology, community consultation facilitation and community directed
development, project management, strategies for sustainable farming and
resource management in humid and arid tropics, and personal security.
This course addresses the requirements for the Diploma of Permaculture unit
of competency PIL508A Plan management strategies for overseas development
projects.
