MycoDynamic Gardening and Mushroom Cultivation Weekend Workshop
Presented by Charmoon Richardson and Mia Maltz (studied with Paul Stamets)
July 9 - 10
Saturday & Sunday
10 - 5
Held near Sebastopol in west Sonoma County.
This two day workshop will include both verbal presentations and
hands-on activities, as we delve into home mushroom cultivation and
a variety of progressive, innovative ecological technologies. Learn
how to bring beneficial fungi into garden, landscape, or farm.
Saturday: Explore the basics of home mushroom cultivation, including
mushroom life cycles, culturing mycelium, acquiring
or creating spawn, avoiding contaminants, building a glove box or
home lab, log inoculation, kit making, mushroom-vegetable
intercropping, and more. ***Participants will create oyster mushroom
kits and inoculate logs to take home.***
Sunday: Discussion & activity will focus on practices of Myco-
Remediation, Permaculture practices, and MycoDynamic gardening.
Topics include myco-forestry, myco-filtration, myco-insecticides,
and the uses of mycorrhizal soil inoculants, along with functional
planting strategies, zone and sector analysis, and soil building. We
will also explore re-use of materials within the context of natural
cycles: creating & maintaining worm bins, making compost teas, and
uses for cardboard sheet mulch. Learn simple methods of creating
mycological landscapes for ecological restoration, and culturing
culinary and medicinal mushrooms.
Includes informational handouts, resource lists, and all materials
and supplies. Some overnight lodging available.
Saturday night potluck dinner!
Attendance is by pre-registration.
