Grow Here Now A Permaculture Convergence
Dates: June 5, 2005 (Sunday) – June 12, 2005 (Sunday)
Cost: $450

Lama Foundation proudly presents a permaculture convergence, “Grow Here
Now!” This will be an excellent opportunity for anyone who is concerned
about the state of the Earth, and desires to learn how to apply earth-based
skills to their daily lives and share their wealth of knowledge with others.

Since the 1996 Hondo Fire, which destroyed 95% of Lama’s surface
vegetation, there has been an amazing effort over the years to rebuild and
restore in a positive, healing, and regenerative way, making Lama a
fascinating Permaculture classroom. It is our great hope that all involved
will leave the experience energized and inspired to share these vital tools
with the world.

Through connecting with so many caring, talented individuals on all levels
and in several learning methods, people will have the chance to delve
deeply into the theories and practices of permaculture and sustainability.
Hands-on, walk-and-talks, slide shows, and informal discussions will offer
the chance to delve deeply into the theories and practices of permaculture.
What’s more, Lama offers pristine spring water, pure solar power, wonderful
vegetarian cuisine, and is one of the oldest and most respected intentional
and spiritual communities in the U.S.

Whether it be solar electricity, water catchment, land restoration or
spirituality in relation to nature (just for starters) teachers and
participants alike can expect a very rich week.

Land Apprenticeship and Permaculture Happening 2 ("LAPH")
Dates: May 29, 2005 (Sunday) – August 6, 2005 (Saturday)
Cost: $2200
Teacher: Rico Zook

Land Apprenticeship and Permaculture Happening (LAPH) returns to Lama
Foundation in summer 2005. This ten week course, limited to eight students,
involves an expanded permaculture curriculum, offering deeper immersion
into permaculture as it relates to community life at Lama, one of the
oldest and most respected intentional and spiritual communities in the U. S.

LAPH is for the person who wants to delve into a hands-on program focused
on permaculture principles, exploring topics like annual food production,
water (source to sink, catchment and drip irrigation), land restoration,
natural building, and community issues. There will be an opportunity to
focus on and tap into our locally thriving sustainable community in Taos
and surrounding areas.

As a LAPH student, you will be involved in community service and
gatherings, becoming fully integrated as a “Lama Bean.” During the summer
at Lama, you may make new friends, sing and dance often, enjoy the
breathtaking surroundings and nearby Taos, experience your heart opening
wide in community life and feel the unique nourishment of the sacred Lama
Mountain. There is truly never a dull moment!

The course will culminate in Permaculture Design Certification.

The Teacher:
Richard Zook has lived most of his adult life in the wilderness after
receiving a degree in environmental studies with an emphasis on land
restoration. He came to Lama Mountain after the 1996 fire as foreman and
co-director of the Land Restoration team. Since 1998, Rico has been the
Land Manager for the Lama Foundation applying permaculture design as well
as installing and stewarding most of the land systems.
