EcoVersity was founded in 1999 by a team of educators, ecologists,
anthropologists, and activists who gathered together to design a school and
campus for people seeking innovation and practical approaches to learning
from the land. Frances Harwood, affectionately known as Fiz, was the
founding mother of EcoVersity. She dreamt of a place where people from all
walks of life would come together with their hearts and minds dedicated to
preserving the earth.
Each year EcoVersity invites increasing numbers of students, educators, and
community participants to its campus. Sustainability and community are
celebrated in all of its educational projects, and the campus has become an
evolving expression of student involvement in hands-on eco-projects.
EcoVersity is dedicated to serving the community, both by providing a place
for community events and site-based projects, and by inviting educators and
professionals from Santa Fe and surrounding areas to be a part of an
ongoing educational exchange.
EcoVersity is a place to meet like-minded individuals, learn new skills,
and share your own experiences. The campus is located at 2639 Agua Fria
Street, Santa Fe, NM 87505. Reach us at 505.424.9797,

Event Description
This class is highly recommended for any design practitioners in the fields
of energy, architecture, landscape, urban planning, agriculture and
resource management. Permaculture training facilitates understanding of
patterns in design which allow to achieve long term sustainability through
energy efficiency, resource conservation, protection of biodiversity and
ecological integrity. Permaculture encourages systems' thinking, rather
than element thinking, it works with rather against Nature, it teaches
protracted and thoughtful observation rather than premature and thoughtless
action.
This class is taught by one of the foremost teachers of permaculture in the
US.
