your body. During this workshop you will learn how to test soil for
building, mix cob, build cob walls, and learn the basics of earthen
plastering. While working on a cob cottage special instruction will
be given on window placement, use of small spaces, alcoves and
niches, benches, and interior wall designs. This workshop also
includes instruction on building a cob oven, introduction to straw
bale construction, and discussion of design basics.

June 3-5 Introduction to Cob Building $140
This workshop is for those who don’t have as much time but want a
great weekend introduction for use in later cob construction. In just
two days you will learn how to test soil for building, mix cob, build
cob walls, learn the fundamentals of and practice earthen plastering,
and discuss design basics for future projects.

June 18-25 Comprehensive Cottage Construction $490
In this workshop you will learn how to build a hybrid cob-strawbale
cottage. These eight days include all of the above workshop material
plus more . . . In addition to cob basics and practice, you will pour
an earthen floor, construct a straw bale wall, discuss passive solar
energy design principles, and tour a finished naturally built home.
Participants will also receive detailed instruction on naturally
built small cottage construction from laying the foundation to

~Creating Organic Buildings Together~ offers natural building
workshops for people of all ages. We bring people together in
community to teach the empowering skills of sustainable building.

Building with natural materials like cob, strawbale, paper crete,
earthen plasters and floors, sustainability harvested wood, and
reused materials allows you to create beautiful, efficient,
inexpensive and livable spaces while walking lightly on the earth.
This makes sense not only for the planet, but also for folks wanting
to revitalize cooperative culture and have fun COBbing Together. No
previous building experience is required.

This season COB Together is excited to team up with Becky Bee from
Groundworks, and author of The Cob Builders Handbook, to host three
workshops in the Williams Valley of Southern Oregon. These workshops
vary in length and offer different degrees of learning. Come for a
four-day Introduction to Cob Building, our two-day Basic of Cob
Building workshop or sign up for or our eight-day Comprehensive
Cottage Construction workshop for more in-depth learning and a deeper
community experience.
