A VERY SPECIAL Permaculture Design Certificate
Course taught by Geoff Lawton and Andrew Jones, at the Payson for
International Development and Technology Transfer at Tulane University, New
Orleans, Louisiana, USA, May 23rd to June 5th 2004 The Payson Center is
founded on the belief that sustainable development is about improving the
quality of peoples lives and expanding their ability to shape their own
futures. While this generally calls for higher per-capita income via
economic growth, it requires much more. Achieving sustainable development
involves more equitable education and job opportunities, greater gender
equality, better health and nutrition, a cleaner and more sustainable
natural environment, more impartial judicial and legal systems, and broader
civil and political freedoms. As the information technology revolution
reshapes priorities, programs and policies for institutions, governments,
markets, and society worldwide, the Payson Center strives to develop
technology-based solutions to bring about greater equality and encourage
sustainable human development
