THE CENTER OF NATURAL DESIGN
The Center of Natural Design is a ten acre private retreat center and
teaching facility on California's beautiful Central Coast. Hidden
among ancient Oaks, organic gardens spiral down the slopes,
surrounded by thousands of acres of open space and an incredible view
shed of extinct volcanoes. Natural building and Permaculture
demonstrations include Guest House, Shop, Yoga Studio and Day Spa.
"GARDEN GODDESS GUEST HOUSE"
Two bedroom, two bath house with separate meeting room/studio is
available for private, corporate and personal retreats.
ALL ORGANIC DAY SPA
Body work treatments include Thai Yoga massage and Herbal Body
Scrubs. Steam room and deep tub aroma therapy soak is available, as
well as, an outdoor, wood-fired, spring-fed hot tub. -Ecstasy and

PERMACULTURE DESIGN EDUCATION
The teaching team of The Center of Natural Design is among the
world's most experienced groups of Permaculture Designers. Guest
lecturers include internationally acclaimed educators and leaders in
the world-wide sustainability movement.
The training center in San Luis Obispo County has monthly programs in
permaculture and natural building and is host to Permaculture Design
Certificate Courses each year.

GETTING INVOLVED...
Opportunities to gain practical experience are available from San
Luis Obispo to San Diego Counties. Open to all Permaculture Design
Course Graduates, work exchangers and volunteers.
EROSION CONTROL PROJECT
"reading the patterns of the landscape" -working with the contour of
the land and learning about water flow and drainage... -Especially
valuable lessons for the coming rains in post fire landscapes.
FOOD FORESTRY PROJECT
Opportunities to learn about site planning, irrigation systems,
selection, planting and care of trees and their understory are
available throughout the winter and spring. Harvesting, marketing
and some processing experience will also be available.
THE HOME ECOSYSTEM PROJECT
Learn natural building techniques, grey water system installation,
water harvesting, edible landscaping, energy conservation and more.

PERMACULTURE APPRENTICESHIPS
The Center of Natural Design is currently accepting applications for
1 to 3 month long apprenticeships. Design Course Graduates are
especially encouraged to apply for additional certification and
experience.
This is a rigorous, learning intensive program and includes
Permaculture Design Course Certification or Advanced Permaculture
Certification. Some housing may be available.
