Hi everyone
       This months Permaculture Discussion and Video Group meeting will  be 
Wednesday Nov 12 at 6pm at Paradise Campgrounds, Los Padres Forest to 
welcome the Sustainability Solutions Caravan (3 vege-diesel busus to Costa 
Rica as they come through Santa Barbara.
         Let's  welcome the group of fellow Permaculture Travellers and 
friends , please bring food for potluck ,dress warm to hang around the 
Campfire outdoors. Bring musical instruments.

         DIRECTIONS from Santa Barbara take Hwy #101 to Hwy #154,  go over 
the top of San Marcos pass over the bridge and about a mile to Paradise Rd 
turn Right , proceed 3 miles and turn to left into Paradise Campgrounds 
proceed till you see 3 buses.
There will be a sign on Paradise Rd saying Road  "Caravan"

Sustainability Solutions Caravan Tour Description below:

On November 10, 2003, the Sustainable Solutions Caravan, will travel from 
California to Costa Rica. In vehicles run on used vegetable oil we will 
create forums for information exchange. We aim to highlight the importance 
of seeking alternatives to destructive trends in energy consumption and 
agricultural practices. As eco-technologists, farmers, healers, vegetable 
oil conversion mechanics, entertainers, and multi-media specialists, we 
share a common vision for a healthy and sustainable planet that respects 
all life.

Driving from Berkeley, CA to Punta Mona Center for Sustainable Living and 
Education in Costa Rica our goal is to promote responsible technologies and 
land management design systems that encourage sustainable development, 
biodiversity, and a healthy quality of life. We will acheive this by events 
geared toward celebrating local sustainable solutions and introducing 
alternatives. We target educators, farmers, students, schools, community 
centers, eco-villages, and organic farms along the way. Our contribution to 
the forum is an educational performance that touches on concepts of 
permaculture, engine-conversion, ethnobotany, sustainable nutrition. All 
events will culminate with a gala and an information and seed exchange.

Downloadable curriculums and activities for students and educators will be 
available for distribution this coming spring!

and it is truly low cost beautiful housing that does not tax the earth's

resources.

Nov 15 Sat Permaculture workshop at the Worm Farm in Meiners Oaks
Worms, Compost and Mycorrhizae
Saturday November 15th: 1:00 P.M to 3.00 P.M.
The workshop will take place at the Worm Farm in Meiners Oaks
450 South Rice Road at the corner of W.Lomita Av. And Rice Rd
Please park your vehicle on the Lomita side of the Worm Farm and come in 
through the green pedestrian door. The workshop is outdoors; bring your 
gloves, work clothes, a notebook and a pen.
Donations: $ 15 per person. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
Pierre will talk about cold compost piles using red wiggler worms and hot 
compost piles. The workshop will cover saprophytic decomposers, 
bioremediation with fungi and mycorrhizal fungi
Participants will enjoy the outdoors, get some exercise and return home 
with the necessary knowledge to jump-start their own recycling system
They will carry home their cold composting system with worms participate in 
the making of a hot compost pile and take home a sample of BioVam (a 
cutting edge mycorrhizal inoculum for their trees, plants and shrubs.)
Pierre Constans, the instructor, is a former student of Bill Mollison, the 
father of Permaculture. Pierre specializes in setting up living systems 
that are both aesthetic and functional: mandala gardens, hedges, spiral 
herb gardens, backyard orchards, ponds, organic vineyars and chicken 
tractors. He operates the Worm Farm, recycles local restaurant refuse into 
compost and produces BioVam. BioVam is a revolutionary organic soil and 
plant booster that changes the physical composition of the soil as well as 
the physiology of plants.
