who want to study and learn more about Permaculture..

Hello Everybody--

Wes and I just returned from a week long Sustainable & Natural
Building workshop called "Build Here Now". It was held at the Lama
Foundation just outside of Taos, New Mexico.

The Lama Foundation burned several years ago in devasting forest fire, and
many of their structures were lost. Catherine Wanek, strawbale pioneer,
and co-founder with her husband of their company, The Last Straw, along
with others, conceived of the great idea of having a combination building
and learning workshop event to help Lama Fdn. rebuild. Since Ram Dass,
author of "BE HERE NOW", was in residence at the Lama Foundation when he
was writing his book, they used that for inspiration, coined the name
"Build Here Now" for the rebuild efforts and workshop.

We are very excited to share some of the experiences and stories with you
at the next SCPG Video Discussion group on July 11. Luckily we have a
Share and Tell part to our meetings, so in addition to coming prepared to
hear about "Build Here Now", please remember to bring your own
announcements and experiences of recent events to also share with the group.

While we were at this event we were finally able to purchase a new video
called Farming with Nature that Wes has been trying to find for some
time. It is a case study of a successful temperate permaculture project in
the cold alpine region of Lungau, Austria. It is so exciting to see the
farm of Sepp Holzer, who has been practicing sustainable and permaculture
priniciples successfully on his farm more than 30 years, growing things
like citrus and cherries at these high snowy elevations! The video also in
a very clear and enjoyable manner, goes over many of the Permaculture
principles we have been learning.

We would like to know from the group if you would be interested in seeing
this video at the next meeting, because we'd like to share it with you.

Please reply by email if you are interested in doing this or would prefer
to stick with the Bill Mollison Design Course series without
interruption. Remember, this is your group, so give us your feed back. We
are also still looking for someone to host the next meeting, so let us know
if you have a place large enough to share, we can supply the VCR and T.V.
if necessary.

Email reply your vote, and hope to see you on July 11th-

Thanks,
Margie Bushman
