Environmental Defense Center presents Family Farm Fun Day, next
Saturday, May 18, from 2 to 6 at Churchill Orchard, 4101 Grand Ave,
Ojai.
The event includes guided walking tours of the orchard, music (played
over a solar-powered p.a. from Ojai Solar Electric and featuring the
Sulphur Mountain Boys), a certain amount of speechifying, a
guacamole-making contest, and lots of fun for one and all.
The event is a benefit for the Ventura activities of the
Environmental Defense Center, a public interest law firm which works
in Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties. The event is
sponsored by Community Alliance with Family Farmers and its
Farm-to-School Salad Bar project, Faulconer and Carawan Architects,
Citizens to Preserve the Ojai, and Churchill Orchard, a
sustainably-farmed tangerine and avocado orchard.
Admission is $12, $6 for children; the admission fee buys you two
drink tickets and plenty of delicious food provided by The Farmer and
the Cook, Cafe Zack, Pisacali Grill, Franky's, Anacapa Bread,
Yolanda's and Yolie's. As well as all that delicious guacamole from
the guacamole contest.
Wear sensible shoes; this place is not a lawn. If you plan to enter
the guacamole-making contest, we're supplying the avocados and
lemons; you should bring your own special condiments.
