Greetings!
This coming Sunday, October 21, the S.A.R.C. will be hosting a FREE tree
planting workshop at the Student Experimental Farm from 10-3. Please join us
for an informative and fun workparty with local native plant growers and
horticulturalists Josh Carmichael and Todd Davidson.
Learn skills in design, installation and maintenance of a wide range of trees
and shrubs (including native oaks, cedar, redwood and exotic fruit varieties).
Josh Carmichael is a long-time native plant enthusiast who has been
involved in
tree planting projects throughout the county (with organizations such as the
Land Conservancy and S.W.A.P.). He is currently working on a native
revegetation project for the Morro Bay Watershed. Todd Davidson, also a
native
plant grower, is a currently a graduate student in the College of
Agriculture.
He has worked for many years on landscape design projects (at Cal Poly's
Leaning
Pine Arboretum and numerous other landholdings).
Josh and Todd will share their knowledge of tree planting basics, give
planting
demonstrations and lead informal discussions on relevant topics.
Bring your workgloves and questions as we continue beautify the Student Farm.
We will break for potluck (optional) lunch. Hope to see you there!
