This 72-hour course will be held at the Northwest Louisiana Commerce
Center, the developing Eco-Industrial Park at the decommissioned
Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant, in Minden Louisiana. The course
will include hands-on Permaculture implementation, as we develop this
demonstration center at the former administration area of this
15,000-acre site

maintenance of agriculturally productive ecosystems which have
the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems"

Course details
Date: October 1-13, 2001
Location: NWLCC - Minden, LA
Cost: $350 after September 10
The 72-hour PDC course consists of lectures, demonstrations and
hands-on experience. The daily timetable is from 9:00am to 5:00pm
with two half-hour tea breaks and a one-hour lunch break. Videos and
slide presentations will be available on certain evenings. Students
will participate in a hands on design exercise. Upon completion of
the course, all students will receive a Permaculture Design
Certificate.

*Domestic food security and food production: Garden, mini-farm
and farm design, ecological pest control, orchard and tree crops,
forestry and bamboo plantations, bush foods and forages,
rehabilitation of soils and erosion control, green manures and
farmers trees, livestock: forages and management
*Wildlife
*Design for catastrophe prevention
*Drought proofing property
*Earthworks
*Water harvesting and management
*Windbreaks and bushfire control
*Aquaculture: aquatic plants and fisheries
*Energy efficient housing: site selection, appropriate technology,
recycling and waste management
*Whole systems design for human settlements
*Alternative economic structures
*Trusts, legal strategies, credit unions

Permaculture On-Ground Training
After the PDC, getting more "hands-on" experience will help to cement
the new knowledge. Join us at our demonstration site as we lay down
new systems. The intensive 5-day course will include on-site design
processes, water management systems, preparation of gardens and food
forests, mulching, composting, raising of seedlings and planting out
of new gardens.
