Hello everyone -
Hope you can join us for the Food Forum we will be co-sponsoring with ECOSLO
and Hopedance magazine on Saturday, May 5th. It promises to be an informative
and festive event. Don't forget to bring any seeds you might like to exchange
after the talks!

JOIN US FOR THE "GROWING FOOD FORUM"
When: May 5, 10:00 a.m.-5:00p.m.
Where: First Presbyterian Church on the corner of Morro and Marsh, SLO
Mark your calendars for an informative and fun workshop on growing food in
harmony with nature! Whether you are looking for practical tips for your home
garden or just a deeper awareness of where food comes from, this one day
workshop is sure to please. Join us as local farmers, naturalists and
activists
address important issues related to FOOD and the environment it is grown in.
Speakers and topics include:
Morning:
Steve Moore - "Communities and Agriculture"
Terry Hooker - "(Organic)Garden Planning"
Julian Kayne - "Cultivating On-site Fertility"
Allyson Nakasone - "Composting with Worms - Vermicomposting!"
Lunch (1-2): Social hour, snacks, live entertainment by local artists
Afternoon:
Larry Santoyo - "Applying Permaculture Principles at Home"
Craig Lane - "Culinary Herbs and Foods for Health and Healing"
Sandra Sarrouf - "Urban Agriculture in Cuba"
Tim Bolander - "Closing the Loop between Farm Production and Urban
Consumption"
Fresh foods by local chefs will be available for purchase. Bring your seeds
for
a community SEED EXCHANGE which will take place at the end of the day.
This popular workshop has been offered twice in recent years and is being made
possible again by a joint sponsorship between ECOSLO, HopeDance Magazine, and
the Sustainable Agriculture Resource Center (SARC), Cal Poly's new program for
sustainable agriculture.
