Materials in Santa Barabara**

Participate in a Pine Needle Basketry Workshop with Chumash weaver Julie 
Cordero
An apprentice Chumash basketweaver, Julie has mastered the art of coil-weave 
pine needle basketweaving and wants to pass this very portable, fun, and 
satisfying nature-skill to you!
Julie is putting herself through graduate school at UCSB, and during the 
summer only, she will be offering classes and private lessons on coil-weave 
basketry to the public. Take advantage of this rare opportunity to learn 
basic techniques using local materials from one of the finer basketweaving 
traditions in the U.S.
This four-session class will give you solid skills in coil-weave basketry, 
from very fine, tight basket starts to feather and shell trims and color 
patterns. Materials are provided.
Times: 4 Saturdays mornings, June 17 through July 8, 10:00 am to noon (limit 
10 participants for June-July saturday classes)

Cost: $200 (or sliding scale for low income/students) 
Place: Julie's house on Arrellaga Street, Downtown Santa Barbara. Possible 
materials gathering field trips to the Los Padres National Forest.
