The Ojai Valley Chamber of Commerce annual self guided garden tour will be
held
on sat May 6. this year's tour will encompass seven gardens around Ojai
Valley.
Garden tour Organizer Sheri Cate says that because many people go on the tour
to learn how to improve their gardens. This year we've taken the Garden
Tour in
a new direction. It will be more than House and Garden or House Beautiful.
This
year people can expand their horizons.
The tour
The Holden Garden is designed to attract and nuture butterflies and uses the
principals of FengShui.
The Hicks and Kenton Garden is nicknamed Palmderosa because of the 1000 Palm
trees and tropical plants and flowers.
Pfeffer Garden emphasizes edible plants and is an excellent example of Zone
One
permaculture technique.(Zone One gardens are comprised of land araes most
frequently used and visited by gardeners and generally is closer to the
house).
Vistors see examples of composting,natural pest control,mulching practises etc
Fitzgerald Gardens feature drought tolerant palnts, roses and perennials. It
also has a hillside patio,vegetable garden and a horse pasture on 2 acres.
Baldwin Garden is the most unique garden on the tour. and the second
Permaculture site. 2 acres on a newly developed Permaculture Site. Chicken
tractor, two greenhouses for progation, many varities of figs, bamboo and
subtropical plants with chard pole beans and more.

Hendershot Gardens a kind of South of France Garden
Ticket Prices are $15 if purchased before tour day after .$20.
