In an era of drought, the need for people is growing daily with hands-on skills in hydrological restoration and the integration of farming utilizing the principles that lead to ecological stability.
From April 5-8, 2017, Water Harvesting for Dryland Farming: Earthworks for Resiliency, a fundamental course in farm scale water harvesting techniques for dryland environments will be taking place in Hyder, Arizona.

Whether students are working on their own landscape, farm, or as a consultant, this course will grow their skills in the appropriate design and construction of structures that will reduce erosion, increase productivity, harvest & store water, and create resiliency in the ecologies that sustain us.
A major component of this course will be hands-on skill development where we will establish on-site earthworks with large earthmoving equipment. Students will be able to dive deeper into large earthworks development, water infiltration strategies and systems linking, planting and commissioning, and additional hydration strategies curated for dryland environments.
