IPC – International Permaculture Convergences:
The International Permaculture Convergences (IPCs) are epic gatherings of permaculture practitioners from around the world (with over 600 participants and more), to share knowledge and expertise and strategize about the future of the permaculture movement. They have been active since 1985 and bring together inspiring and experienced permaculturists to deliver diverse and engaging programmes. International Permaculture experts, teachers and practitioners talk and teach at these events.

Permaculture:
The term ‘Permaculture’ was coined by Bill Mollison and David Holmgren in the late 1970s and spread more widely through “Permaculture ONE”, which was published in 1978. The first major publication was the book “Permaculture: A Designers’ Manual” in 1988. The word is a contraction of permanent agriculture and also of permanent culture. The aim of Permaculture is to consciously design systems that are ecologically sound, economically viable and self sustaining. It has since spread across the planet and there are now permaculture organizations, groups and individuals striving to work with nature, create regenerative systems across a wide range of subjects related to human life and the relationship with our habitat. Its three foundational ethics are: care of earth, care of people, and fair share. One of the specialities of Permaculture is education and courses (PDC, Permaculture Design course, lasts 72-80 hours), are taught worldwide.
Ná Lu’um Permaculture Institute in Argentina – the host of IPC14:
Founded in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, initially a family unit of four, the Ná Lu’um Permaculture Institute has been active since 2001 in various spheres:
opening hundreds of reference centers for permaculture education all over the world;
developing strategies for working in permaculture in different climates, ecosystems and cultures, adapting our knowledge to the local reality;
run over 200 PDCs, training >5000 designers, helping enormously in the expansion of permaculture in Latin America and the world;
Initiating a social movement in 20 countries, creating a reality check in high vulnerability contexts;
creating and designing educational spaces based on permaculture and education for life;
developing Permaculture Diplomas in different countries, with students from different continents;
preparing to host the 14th IPC (International Permaculture Convergence) with the theme ‘Children, youngsters and regenerative education’;
initiating change in individuals on a profound level, both social and environmentally, inspiring the creation of abundance, knowledge and wisdom in each country we visit.
