What is Permaculture? 'Permaculture is a far-reaching ecological concept for
the 21st century. It means designing and maintaining a way of life that has
the diversity, stability, resilience and the self-organising qualities of
natural systems. Permaculture is the harmonious integration of the land and
people in such a way that the needs of food, energy and shelter are met
without diminishing the natural world. Permaculture design works with the
cycles of nature and is relevant in all human activity' (Living Lightly).

A new, and uniquely Kiwi way to obtain the original 72 hour permaculture
design certificate. The original Permaculture curriculum with a
twist...using the ancient practice of a traveling university, we will learn
and teach following the nomadic path.

For three weeks a caravan of students will set out to explore, work and
learn from those who embody permaculture in action. Throughout the north
island of Aotearoa; join us to explore this emerging culture of
sustainability first hand. Savour the whole food delights this country has
to offer, fresh from the source. Integrate yourself into some spectacular
environments while participating in working systems on a variety of
community-based restoration, development and education projects.

Learn the principles and practice of ecological design with some of the
planets most experienced and exciting sustainability educators. Find a
solution-based response, the tools, technologies, strategies and practices
for designing abundance and resilience into your home, workplace, school or
community. Take charge of your footprint.

Our professional team of educators, hosts, outdoor instructors, musician’s,
artists, designers, engineers and craftspeople will lead you on an
Antipodean journey of self-discovery. The real five star holiday.

This fascinatingly delectable event will take you around some of NZ's
premiere permaculture, biodynamic, organic and sustainably managed farms,
sites and communities. Spend three weeks with our eclectically experienced
guides. This three week extravaganza will open your eyes to a new way of
being.

What does the course cover?
• Observation and understanding natural systems.
• Theory and principles of sustainable systems.
• Designing for urban and rural land use.
• Designing for living in community.
• Appropriate strategies for different climates.
• Energy efficient and healthy building.
• Renewable energy systems.
• Water harvest, storage, and treatment.
• Growing food and designing gardens, orchards, forests, and windbreaks.
• Organic soil improvement and rehabilitation techniques.
• Animal management in Permaculture systems.
• Alternative economic structures.
• Rest & relaxation, taking in the kiwi culture at the Sunsplash reggae

What will you gain? The objective of the course is to raise your awareness 
of global and regional ecological issues, extend your ability to interpret 
your environment, and to learn practical applications for maximising the 
potential of a site or a situation-by design. This course can empower you 
with the language and tools of sustainability, and the ideas and vision to 
make clear choices about your purpose and action in the 21st Century. You

Experiential learning: We spend time each day learning and experiencing 
co-operative living in action. We have a significant focus on building 
practical skills and working together.

Advanced education: Those who wish to further their Permaculture education 
can seek the New Zealand Diploma of Permaculture Design. Permaculture 
internships are offered throughout New Zealand.

There are no prerequisites for the course: We encourage people of all ages, 
backgrounds and experience to participate. However we do encourage prior

• Who are the tutors? This experiential learning curriculum will be 
delivered by some of New Zealand's most experienced and exciting
