About the Presentation
Want to build a healthy, beautiful home that nurtures your family and
reduces energy bills? Straw-bale construction may be the answer.

Aesthetically, strawbale offers wide, sculptable walls that surround you
like an embrace, yet can satisfy any design preference. Sturdy bales
double as "super insulation," which can reduce heating and cooling bills
by 50 to 90% over conventional construction. Plastered bale walls also
resist fire and flame spread, and dampen neighborhood noises. Natural
and non-toxic, straw bales are a healthy choice for your family, and are
an ecological building material available in most regions.

To build a lasting, low-maintenance strawbale home you need to
understand a few common-sense aspects of design and construction,
consistent with quality conventional building practices. The
presentation will include images from Wanek's The New Strawbale Home, a
full color book profiling forty homes from California to Quebec, New
York to New Mexico.
