FAIRVIEW GARDENS SHOWCASES EARTH-FRIENDLY PROJECTS AT JUNE 29 OPEN HOUSE
On Sunday, June 29, from 11am to 6pm, Fairview Gardens Farm invites you to go
'beyond organic' at our Open House, "A Day On the Farm."
Come explore our fields and orchards and learn about some of our progressive
projects. We'll have demonstrations, tours, music, and farm-grown
refreshments throughout the day. Featured projects include:
-- "Green" Bath House - featuring composting toilet and graywater recycling
systems for on-site waste management
-- Tempura Tractor - powered by spent restaurant fryer oil
-- Self-Guided Farm Tour - a bilingual introduction to our crops and methods
-- Solar Electric System - soon to be installed, the system will provide 80
to 100% of the farm's electricity needs
We'll also be hosting Farm and Garden demonstrations, Varietal tastings, and
a Children's Festival. We'll serve gourmet food fresh from the farm, and have
live music throughout the day.
Admission is free (donations requested). For more information, contact
Fairview Gardens at (805) 967-7369. Fairview Gardens is located at 598 North
Fairview Avenue in Goleta, at the intersection of North Fairview Avenue and
Stow
Canyon Road.
