sugar cane question

Greetings permaculture nation, on this fine spring day:

I have a small patch (2 x 3m) of happily growing, good tasting sugar cane 
here in Ojai,CA.  Originally planted by someone else, I'd now like to 
propagate it into a larger patch using what's currently growing.

Does anyone have and good info on garden-scale sugar cane culture?
