Dear friends and colleagues in Southern California interested in intentional communities,
I’ll be doing three events at Los Angeles Eco-Village on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday March 3, 4, and 5. If any of these events appeal to you, please join us. Here are directions to Los Angeles Ecovillage. http://laecovillage.org/home/directions
And if you have friends or colleagues in the Los Angeles area whom you think might be interested, please do forward this message. Thank you!
“How Ecovillages Worldwide Have Influenced their Wider Culture” is Friday evening, March 3, 7-10pm, a slideshow & talk about ecovillages internationally. These are tales and stories of beautiful ecovillages on four continents, many of which I’ve visited, and how they are now beneficially affecting their region, their country, or the Earth. The cost is $5 to $20 sliding scale. Please RSVP to crsp@igc.org or 213-738-1254.
“Introduction to Sociocracy for Ecovillages and Other Kinds of Intentional Communities” is a workshop on Saturday, March 4,10am- 4pm (lunch,12:30-1:30pm). This is an overview of and introduction to this effective governance structure and decision-making method. Sociocracy means “governance by peers and colleagues” and is also sometimes called Dynamic Governance. This introductory workshop is not enough information or practice to learn Sociocracy and use it in your group (that’s a three-day workshop), but you will get a clear, understandable overview of Sociocracy, and learn a useful meeting process, Selecting People for Roles (Sociocracy Elections), a good-vibe meeting technique you can take back and use in your group. The cost is $70 to $90, sliding scale. Bring your own lunch or go to one of the many local cafes in the neighborhood. Please RSVP to crsp@igc.org or 213-738-1254.
“The Three Aspects of a Healthy Thriving Community,” is Sunday, March 5, 2-6pm. This short workshop includes the three aspects of a healthy, thriving community, eight antidotes to structural conflict, and overviews of “The 19 Steps” – the steps people typically take to start successful new ecovillages and intentional communities, community vision and mission, and a clear, thorough membership process. The cost is $60 to $75, sliding scale. Please RSVP to crsp@igc.org or 213-738-1254.
