Dear friends and colleagues --

As many of you are aware, Jack Weiss's Council District seat is up for grabs
in the upcoming election on March 3rd. This is my district - CD 5. It
stretches all the way from my 'hood - Pico Robertson/Beverlywood through
Century City and Westwood and through to Sherman Oaks and Encino in the San
Fernando Valley. It's a huge district - and a hotly contested seat.

There are six candidates running for this seat, which means it is a virtual
certainty that there will be a run off. As a land use attorney and a
long-term resident of this district, I am obviously very interested in the
outcome of the election for this seat. I have been following this race
quite closely as the March 3rd election draws near.

I have been leaning toward Robyn Ritter Simon ever since I saw a candidate's
forum in my neighborhood a few months' back. She impressed me at that time
with the range of experience she brings to the table; her non-ideological,
balanced approach to controversial issues; her forthrightness; and her
commitment to the community. The fact that she served as a Commissioner on
the West Los Angeles Area Planning Commission is an important factor in my
mind because it means that she actually understands land-use issues and has
experience making the kinds of decisions she would need to make while on the
City Council.

I recently had the opportunity to meet her personally at a meet and greet
event and to get a clearer sense of her character and her viewpoint on
particular issues. I came away feeling extremely impressed with her, and as
a result have decided to back her as the candidate whom I strongly hope to
see as our next Councilperson for District 5.

I have attached some information about background, experience, and goals for
our city. You can also find more information about Robyn by visiting her
website at <http://www.RobynRitterSimon.com> www.RobynRitterSimon.com. I
would be happy to share my thoughts further if any of you are interested,
and strongly encourage you to contact her staff if you have questions or you
would also like to support in the effort to help Robyn become our next
Councilperson.

The most important thing you can do is vote for Robyn on March 3rd. If you
want to help Robyn win, then please spread the word and consider hosting a
lawn sign in your yard or walking a precinct. If you are interested in
helping, you can contact her campaign directly or I can forward the query
over to her campaign. I am in close contact with them (and her) and find
them (and her) to be very responsive and "on top of it" - which I take to be
a good sign of things to come once she is our new Councilperson!
