Elio Schaechter retired from the Chairmanship of the Molecular Biology
Department in 1993, after 23 years on the job. He is past Presidents of
the American Society for Microbiology. He was the editor of the Bulletin
of the Boston Mycological Club for 20 years. He remains active
lecturing, writing, consulting attending lab meetings and through his
