Hello Permaculture Community,

As we all know, in a permaculture community we are grateful for what the earth provides us and for opportunities for what people can do to co-create build sustainable solutions for today, tomorrow and the future. We are all in this together!

In permaculture, and other earth based communities, we give gratitude at each of our gatherings and honor the gift of coming together to care for the earth, care for people, and to share the abundance. We know that “Every Day is Thanksgiving.” We give what we can, whenever we can, as that is one of the ethics we live by.

This Thanksgiving, I am very grateful for those who came together to help with the cob building project at SLO City Farm. I want to thank Chad Franco for facilitating the workshop and Adriana Lemus, his partner, for all her support. I want to thank the following people for coming for both weekends: Mariah Joy Soloy Belt and her son Gavin and also Brian Ernest Marsh. I want to also thank Scott Kam, Molly McCabe, Chrystie Richards, Amanda Smith, and Tyler and Julio, Chads friends, for coming to lend a helping hand. Also grateful to Plant Based Conscious Chef, Angelica Peach, who helped prepare a beautiful salad each weekend. (Vegan cupcakes too. You can find her on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/ChefAngelicaCulinary/)

We worked with the clay earth, adding DG as our sand, and straw to build a playhouse for generations to come. It was delightful to be on the land together, to create together and to eat food together.

WE ARE STILL IN NEED OF COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR THIS PROJECT. PLEASE GIVE WHAT YOU CAN TO THE GOFUNDME CAMPAIGN. http://www.gofundme.com/mud-hut-cob-building-project

We are about 2/3 of the way done with the project but we still need to finish the last top third of the walls and to build a roof. In the New Year we will have another workshop for the sculpting and plastering of the walls. If you want to come to that workshop and/or to help finish with the building this holiday season contact Chad Franco at chad@cobjobs.com. Here are some photos of the cob building workshops:

We all know these are times of transition and upheaval, but it means that now we must be even stronger, more resilient and do whatever we can to make the kind of world we all want to live in.

Thank you for any support you can give,

Teresa Lees
