Hello Permaculture Guild,
Wow! With the glorious sunshine this morning it feels like a whole season has begun. A whole new lease on life! As the saying goes, “Today is the first day of the rest of your life.” Enjoy the sun. Enjoy the fun. Enjoy the process of this life unfolding. Recently we have applied 15 yards of compost to Our Global Family Farm which will bring lots of life to the farm!
We have had 10 field trips from local schools to City Farm SLO during the month of May. Here are some photos of the field trips: https://www.flickr.com/photos/124814213@N08/sets/
The next work party on the 2nd Saturday will be June 8th, 9am to 12noon. Please come to be part of the possibilities of transforming the land into a regenerative food forest ecosystem. https://www.cityfarmslo.org/educate-youth

FARMGIRLS Summer Camp is Girl Power for our Future Food System! FARMGIRLS Summer Camp is held at Our Global Family Farm, a permaculture demonstration site located at City Farm SLO. It features food crops and indigenous food cropping systems from the four corners of the globe. FARMGIRLS Summer Camp will include farming, cooking, eating, making crafts, singing and nature hikes. The FARMGILRS summer camp is a place where women and girls of all ages can learn about how to grow food in an ecological approach that follows the ethics of permaculture: care for the earth, care for one another, and share the abundance. Together we can create a food system that is Regenerative, Healthy, Local, and Resilient.

Produce will be available for purchase at their farm stand. $11.00 fee is for Johanna's time and tour and hopefully fresh garlic bulb. Fee is payable to Gerri French of the SB Food and Farm Adventures the day of the MeetUp. Come meetup with us!
Some of us may be interested in attending the Los Olivos Jazz and Olive Festival which starts at 1:00 nearby.

Permaculture Design Course (PDC) at Sunburst Sanctuary, Lompoc, September 16 – 29, 2019
Permaculture Design Certification (PDC) Course will be offered this fall at Sunburst Sanctuary. Sunburst Sanctuary is a majestic, 4000-acre ranch 30 miles north of Santa Barbara in the rolling hills of California’s Central Coast region. The site is a rich setting for studying a broad range of regenerative systems, as it includes vegetable production and emerging fruit production systems; rangeland and livestock; small- and large-scale compost production; thriving wilderness and wildlife; extensive creek systems; a meditation retreat center; and a cooperative residential community. Here is the website: https://sunburst.org/pdc/
Care of the earth and growing organic food have been perennial themes of Sunburst Community’s 50-year history of living together, working together, and raising consciousness on the planet. Sunburst was an early pioneer of large-scale production and distribution of organic foods, and remains committed to seeking ways that humanity can have a beneficial rather than harmful impact on the planet and each other.
Living in a Modern Ecovillage – located in the Netherlands
Welcome to the "Aardehuizen", or "Earth houses". It took over 3
years to build and was built by the people themselves following
Earthship principles, using mostly recycled, reused, and locally
sourced building materials. 23 houses; 70 people; mostly families

ACTION ALERT:
SPEAK UP FOR CLIMATE SMART FARMING!
This is your final chance to tell our state representatives to invest in farmers and ranchers by increasing funds for the powerful climate solutions that agriculture can deliver. Right now, legislators are debating the budget for California’s climate change programs. Let's remind them we've got shovel-ready solutions to increase soil carbon sequestration, conserve water, produce compost from livestock and reduce potent methane emissions.

Héctor Calderón, Central Coast Farm Organizer: Héctor will oversee our farmer-to-farmer program in the region, organizing field days and providing boots-on-the-ground support with a focus on Spanish-speaking farmers.
Samir Doshi, Network Manager, San Mateo Food System Alliance: Samir will coordinate collective efforts to address a food system that spans an urban/rural divide, is marked by social and economic inequity, and presents challenges to food producers, distributors, and consumers alike.
