Hello all ­ A few more informative and fun events coming to SLO and/or CA:

1.  Sustainable Building Forum: TONIGHT,  7-9:30 at the SLO Library
2.  International WATER Forum starts in Santa Barbara on 8/28
3.  PERMACULTURE events continue in LA and SF through Sept.
4.  "GROW BIOINTENSIVE" workshop to be held in No. Cal. Sept. 5-7
5.  EQUINOX FESTIVAL at the Student Experimental Farm on Sept. 20th
6.  METHYL BROMIDE Alternatives Conference to be held in Nov. in San Diego

1.  Learn about SUSTAINABLE BUILDING PRACTICES at a community forum tonight at
the San Luis Obispo Public Library (995 Palm St., SLO) from 7:00 ­ 9:30pm.
Sustainable building opportunities exist for residential and non-residential
building projects will be explored.  The discussion will include consultation,
funding and rebate incentives by utilities, state and federal 
agencies.  Topics
include;
U.S. Green building Council
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)	
Bright Schools Program
Savings by Design
Programs by California Energy Commission and California Integrated Waste
Management (CIWM)
Specific focus will be on CSU policy regarding energy conservation and how the
Cal Poly’s "Student Housing North" project could benefit from these
opportunities and result in a nationally recognized example of an ecologically
sustainable community.

2.  There will be "THE SACRED WHEEL OF WATER" International Forum at La 
Casa de
Maria (801 Ladera Lane, Santa Barbara, CA 93108) from August 28 to 31, 2003.
Renowned guest speakers from around the world will share their ideas on
appreciation, conservation and stewardship of this precious resource.  The
opening session will feature Former UN Assistant Secretary-General Robert

3.  Urban PERMACULTURE Design Workshops with Ecological Designer Larry Santoyo
are continuing throughout the LA area on select weekend through Sept. 28th.
Inspiring site visits highlight leading demonstrations of natural builing,
sustainable landscapes, alternative energy and eco-villages.  For more

Permaculture's Founding Father, Bill Mollison will visit the Bay Area in
mid-September (Saturday, Sept 13 @ Sebastopol Community Center & Sunday,

4.  A "GROW BIOINTENSIVE" Sustainable Mini-Farming Workshop will be held
September 5-7 in Willits, CA at Ecology Action, home of John Jeavon’s

5.  Equinox FESTIVAL:  Hope you can join us on Saturday, September 20th 
from 3-7
p.m at the Student Experimental Farm at Cal Poly, SLO.  A potluck gathering

welcome to new students.  Co-sponsored by the Terra Foundation of SLO.

6.  2003 Annual International Research Conference on METHYL BROMIDE 
Alternatives
and Emissions Reductions, co-sponsored by Methyl Bromide Alternatives 
Outreach,
Crop Protection Coalition, U.S. EPA, and USDA, to be held November 3-6, in San
