    11th Annual Two Week Permaculture Design Course
December 2-15
Taught by Jude Hobbs, Toby Hemenway and Rick Valley, this is one of the 
Pacific Northwest's premier annual
Permaculture Courses. Through group design exercises, hands-on projects, 
lectures, slides and discussions, participants
will learn the fundamental principles and techniques of Permaculture, and 
will receive certification from the Permaculture
Institute.
Fee: $900-$1100 sliding scale, including lodging and organic vegetarian meals.

    Permaculture Teacher Training Course with Jude Hobbs and Tom Ward
January 7-13, 2002
With this winter course, we are continuing to prepare a new generation of 
permaculture instructors for these new times.
We will provide a forum to develop teaching skills, discuss strategies and 
techniques, and review the rewards and
challenges of teaching a Permaculture Design Course. A whole systems 
approach will be demonstrated throughout the
course. There will be two opportunities for everyone to practice team 
presentations. Course graduates will receive a
Teacher Training Certificate from the Cascadia Permaculture Institute.

Course Topics Include:

      Philosophy and Ethics of Instruction
      Teaching Systems, Principles and Patterns
      Planning, Marketing, and Economics
      Adult Learning Styles
      Organizing Curriculum, Modules and Resources
      Teaching Space Logistics
      Team Teaching
      Presentations and Facilitators Roles
      Time Management
      Exercises and Media Aids
      Interns and Apprentices
      Evaluations and Feedback
      Tricks of the Trade
      Keeping Up The Spirit

Instructors:
Jude Hobbs is a horticulturist, permaculture designer, and instructor. 
Since1982, Jude's landscape design firm has
provided environmental design solutions for urban and rural settings. Jude 
has presented permaculture workshops and
courses throughout the West for 12 years. Her teaching techniques are based 
on developing curricula that encompass
diverse learning styles. She has written A Guide to Multi-Functional 
Hedgerows, and tends a forest garden in Eugene,
Oregon.

Tom Ward is an ethno-botanist, eco-forester and PC designer. He has 
extensive multi-cultural experience in the USA
and overseas. He is the author of Greenward Ho: An Ecological Approach to 
Sustainable Health. Tom has
developed curricula for PC courses at Laney College and D-Q University in 
California. He has taught PC Design Courses
for 17 years and is based in Ashland, Oregon, where he has been building 
ecotopian culture for 26 years.

Fee: $550. This includes instruction, course materials, organic vegetarian 
meals, and lodging. The deadline for registration
is January 1, 2002. This course is limited to 25 people. The price has been 
kept low to facilitate attendance.

Certification: Course graduates will receive a Teacher Training Certificate 
from the Cascadia Permaculture Institute.

Course Schedule: Check-in begins Monday, January 7th at 4:00 pm and the 
course concludes Saturday evening
January 12th. Lodging on Saturday night and breakfast on Sunday will be 
provided. Class is held from 9:00 to 5:30 each
day.
