Celebrating Earth Stewardship & Community
A Permaculture Design Course
June 21 to July 5
Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo

Thank you for your interest in the Permaculture Design Course presented
this summer by Cal Poly Permaculture and the Central Coast Permaculture
Guild. It is a manifestation of deep healing trends in our bioregion and
community.

Please join us for this inspiring and enriching event.

Permaculture is an integrated design process using balanced ecosystems
as its models. Anyone working with the earth or caring about healthy
community and environment will greatly benefit from this experiential
event, presented by the nation's finest university permaculture
program. It takes place on the beautiful Cal Poly Campus with tent
camping and seasonal village living at the certified organic
Permaculture Center and Student Experimental Farm.

Coordinated by Akiva Werbalowsky, Julian Kayne, and Senior Instructor
Larry Santoyo, additional presenters will include a "who's who" of the
West Coast's most progressive leaders in Permaculture and Ecological
Design. Participants are eligible to receive professional certification
and continuing education units (CEUs) upon completion of the course.

Come experience the spectacular new certified-organic Permaculture site,
green and abundant after vitalization by El Nino rains. Sit in the
shaded cool of the "Bioresource Amphitheater" at summer solstice, hear
the drums around the fire in the "Native Seed Festival Circle", relax
and smell the "Herbal Healing Garden", taste heirloom organic fruits and
veggies moments after harvest.

The Design Course is an in-depth study and application of permaculture
design principles. Participants will gain skills and design habitat in
which human animals play an integral part. We will cover such themes
as:

			- permaculture ethics and principles
			- understanding patterns in nature
			- reading the landscape
			- trees and their energy
			- water harvesting
			- solar technologies
			- food forestry
			- invisible structures
			- restorative agriculture
			- straw bale construction

Participants arrive as early as Sunday, June 21 to set up camp and
gather for a memorable sundown celebration of the summer solstice.
Instruction begins 10:00am on Monday June 22 and the course lasts two
weeks with single days off following both the fourth and the eighth
days of instruction.

A Community Exposition and Exchange will be held Friday, July 3 followed
by an Independence Day celebration and permaculture talent show on July
4. Following breakfast on Sunday, July 5, we'll have a closing circle
and depart.

The course is held at the certified organic Cal Poly Permaculture Center
and Student Experimental Farm combining both comprehensive lecture and
practical application of skills, culminating in site designs by
participants.

The site is in full bloom, green and abundant after vitalization by El
Nino rains. You will become capable of recognizing permaculture
principles in dynamic ways, applying techniques to create a food forest
and unique learning center.

Tuition for the course is $565 which includes all course instruction and
class materials. Healthy catered meals, camping, and access to all
University facilities including an Olympic-sized pool and showers is an
additional $330. One day course passes are available for $100.

Meal service will be three meals per day beginning on Monday morning
June 22, with breakfast only on the two days off. It will primarily be
simple, tasty vegetarian meals plus chicken, eggs, dairy or fish for
some meals. You can always supplement meals with food purchased at a
wide variety of stores close to the site if you like.
