Hi everyone-
For many years we organized annual road trips to The California Institute
of Earth Art & Architecture (Cal-Earth) to visit the site of
visionary architect Nader Khalili, watching the earthen structure
prototypes he designed and built as they evolved over time. Nader,
also a translator of the works of the 13th century Persian poet Rumi,
would also share his love for Rumi with us and its influence on his
work. We loved every trip, learning more each time. Nader
Khalili died unexpectedly in 2008, but his son and daughter &
associates and apprentices continue the work at Cal-Earth.
Two years ago we were invited to talk at the first Permaculture Design
Course taught at Cal-Earth, by Bill & Becky Wilson, of Mid-West
Permaculture. We share the blog & photos they recently sent us,
that share the beauty of Nader's work with lots of other useful
information and recent developments on the site. Permaculture &
natural building, what a great combination for a course!

Stay tuned. We plan on organizing a group road trip again in the
new year, but you may visit anytime on your own, Cal-Earth has an open
house the first Saturday of each month. Please visit their website
