Holistic Rangeland Management
Ap
ril 13 - 16, 2011

Instructors: Kirk Gadzia, Rob Rutherford, Brock Dolman, and Doniga Markegard with guests.

This course in Holistic Rangeland Management is intended for ranchers, land managers, park officials, policy makers, and others. This course applies a systems-thinking approach to managing land resources that improves production, generates financial strength, regenerates ecosystems, and improves the quality of life for those who use it.

Developed by Allan Savory, Holistic Management offers a new decision-making framework that managers in a variety of rangeland-based enterprises are using to help ensure that the decisions they make are economically, socially, and environmentally sound, in both the short and long term. One of the four days will be a field day that will focus on integrated forest/meadow coastal rangeland properties, including the 6,000 acre Jenner Headlands ranch, the newest acquisition of the Sonoma Land Trust, and possibly another TBD location.
