In this dynamic and interactive course, you
will learn significant teaching techniques to communicate
Permaculture principles and strategies in a wide variety of
settings.
We are committed to encouraging and inspiring your unique strengths and
talents by modeling diverse
teaching modalities such as lecture, facilitating class discussions,
storytelling, experiential exercises, and using visual aids. In this
setting of active learning, you will experience essential hands-on
practice by preparing and co-teaching several
presentations. As a final course project the class will organize, promote
and present a workshop to the public:
An Introduction to Permaculture. This event will be offered to the
Arcosanti and surrounding community.

Prerequisite: Permaculture Design Course Certificate or
Instructors approval
Jude Hobbs is a co-founder of Cascadia Permaculture Institute.
In 1982, she established a business specializing in whole system
environmental design solutions for urban settings. She also consults with
farmers emphasizing efficiency and productivity and is the author of the
bulletin: A Guide to Multi-Functional Hedgerows Jude has taught
Permaculture workshops and courses in the private and public sectors, for
20 years, developing curricula that are fun, accessible, and inspiring.
She co-tends 7 acres south of Cottage Grove, Oregon where there are
abundant micro-climates from which to learn.
Andrew Millison has been teaching the Permaculture Design Course
since 2001 at Universities, Colleges, and Institutes from Arizona to
Oregon. His practical experience is as the owner of a design-build
landscaping company, designer in a Landscape
Architecture office, and public speaker. While in Arizona, he converted
two city lots (and beyond) into diverse
Permaculture 'Eco-Hood' demonstration sites that gained wide publicity.
Andrew is currently teaching Permaculture at Oregon State University,
Prescott College, and co-instructed the Permaculture Teacher Training
course with Jude in 2009.
Tuition: $715-775. (sliding scale)
Includes course materials, dorm accommodations & 3 meals a day (see
