Hello Transitioners!
You are receiving this email because we
have you registered for the "Life After Oil" event this coming Saturday, Sept
20, 9am-5pm in Westchester/Los Angeles.
As we put the final touches on
materials, etc, we're getting excited -- and we hope you are too. The
people included in this email (and thus in the participant list for Saturday)
are coming from Santa Barbara, Carpinteria, Palmdale, Laguna Beach, Rancho Palos
Verdes, Frazier Park, Valley View, and Hendersonville, Tennessee, as well as our
more "local" areas of Santa Monica, West LA, Mar Vista, Marina del Rey, Culver
City, Westchester, Inglewood, El Segundo, Redondo Beach and
Torrance.
When we asked you to preregister, we said that we would send
participant materials via email, but we've changed those plans somewhat.
We're now realizing that perhaps the most significant part of this
(ground-breaking) session might become the fact that you each get to meet each
other and know that you are not out there alone working on the only Transition
action in So Calif. Thus forming working relationships--interconnected and
interdependent relationships--is very important.
To this end,
we're setting up an email loop so that we can all communicate. Hop onto
YahooGroups and join
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TTLA/
Introduce yourself and start to "meet" the people you'll meet in person on
Saturday. You can start the process of sharing the Transition progress
your local area has made, or the potential receptivity of your local area if
there is not yet anything happening there. As we accumulate Transition
initiative tips and resources, our discussions will be archived and become a
resource for those people and communities who join the Transition movement later
on. So, come join in the Great Conversation of how we are going to go
about Transitioning society toward a post-oil culture.
Meanwhile, as you
probably already know, there is a list of resources at
http://envirochangemakers.org/TTLA.htm
We will be expanding and transforming this list next week, so that it includes
all the materials we use on Saturday. That way, if you want to go back to
something, or use it again in your local community, you will have access to
it. If there is sufficient interest from you, we'll move or replicate the
list at the
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TTLA/
links. The links and files at that YahooGroup are currently set such that
you as members can add to them. Thus we could develop a local resource base of
the Transition tools we have tried and tested in So Calif.
We look
forward to meeting all of you, and to sharing an exciting day together this
Saturday.
