Join us for a bale raising and straw bale workshop on Sunday July 23rd, near the town of El Dorado, just west of Placerville.

We will install bales for a 3500 sq.ft. residence in a beautiful setting in the foothills of the Sierras.  The house is designed with a light post and beam system with straw bale infill shear walls, and is off the grid with active and passive solar features.

Come and experience what straw bale and other natural building is about.

The instruction and work will begin at 9am, but participants are welcome to arrive later as well.  Work will continue throughout the day.

Architect and workshop instructor Martin Hammer has been involved with the design and construction of straw bale buildings since 1995.  He is the lead author of the proposed straw bale building code for the State of California.

Beverages and snacks will be provided by the owners, but please bring your own lunch.

A $25 fee is required of workshop participants.

Please RSVP with Martin Hammer at mfhammer@pacbell.net  or by phone at 510-684-4488 (cell)
