10 am - 4 pm
This one-day workshop will provide a hands-on experience of
creating one of the signature hardscape structures in a permaculture
garden, the Spiral Herb
Garden.
Participants will learn how to build the supporting
spiral and plan which herbs to plant on the different levels and
orientations to the sun. Larry Santoyo will discuss the basic principles
of permaculture as they apply to the home garden.
This workshop is limited to 12 participants and takes
place in a medium size Santa Barbara urban home permaculture garden in
progress. The cost of the five hour workshop is $75 per person and
includes all materials and lunch.
"Permaculture is the art and science that applies patterns found in
nature to the design and construction of human and natural environments.
Only by applying such patterns and principles to the built environment
can we truly achieve a sustainable living system. Permaculture principles
are now being adapted to all systems and disciplines that human
settlement requires. Architects, planners, farmers, economists, social
scientists, as well as students, homeowners and gardeners can utilize the
principles of Permaculture Design." - Larry
