Hello,
Would you please post our community garden's event.
Thank you,
Jon Szczepanek - Garden General Manager
On Nov 17th
from 1p to dusk (or beyond), the garden will be open to the public.
Come see what makes this community garden different from the others.
Experience the renaissance into a more sustainable future. A transition
movement that has community as it's focus. Come see how tried and true
pre-industrial techniques can restore our planet. This garden's goal is
to become a learning center for natural regenerative gardening,
reskilling, self sufficiency, and health awareness.
Hugelkultur? What is it?
Sustainable gardening? What is it?
Rocket Stove and Cob Oven? What is it?
Bio Char? What is it?
Vermicomposting? What is it?
Much more to see and learn!
There will be 3 presentations at scheduled times, beginning at 1:30.
Michael Wittman of Blue Sky Bio Char, will be discussing bio-char, what it
is, and how it can help you, your garden, and the planet.
Lynne and
Rick of 'It's a Monarchy', a registered Monarch Way Station, will be
discussing the role of the Monarch and how you can help save it!
Jason
Whitney of Worm Shire worm farm (located right here at the garden),
will be discussing red worms, worm composting, and all of it's benefits.
The
Cob Oven will be fired up and cooking individual breads and pizzas for
sale. A large pot of vegetarian kale potato soup will be brewing and
will be available for sale.
There will be a raffle for 2 very nice
'butterfly friendly' plants. Start you own Monarch habitat in your own
yard. There will also be 'butterfly friendly' plants available for sale.
If available, there will also be a Monarch release. Come and be witness
to first flight.
White Doves will be released to celebrate the planting of the Sharity Garden; growing food for those in need.
There will be two separate Eagle
Scout projects going on at the same time.
One scout team will be building 4 raised gardening beds that will be wheelchair accessible.
Another scout team will be constructing a handicap accessible keyhole garden out of natural building materials.
You will experience much more than what is listed here.
