Hey permaculture minded people, if you want to attend Lightning in a Bottle - an incredibly fun festival this Spring - at a discount and want to try out a presentation on a group of eager ears this is your opportunity! It's a fantastic group of people who plan, work for, and attend the festival and a great way to start off the summer.
LIB is looking to feature permaculture prominently in their workshop offerings but they are missing presenters to talk about permaculture style subjects (urban homesteading, gardening, water harvesting, energy strategies, etc). They are also looking for hands-on kinds of workshops (making saurkraut? building a self watering planter? Making a worm bin? Building a trellis out of found objects? Etc.)
If you are interested but unsure of how to plan or approach a talk or hands-on workshop please email me. Either me or my permaculture compadre, Eric Werbalowsky, would be happy to help.
Please consider submitting a talk! Here's the link:
"There is one, and only one, solution, and we have almost no time to try it. We must turn all our resources to repairing the natural world, and train all our young people to help. They want to.
We need to give them this last chance to create forests, soils, clean waters, clean energies, secure communities, stable regions, and to know how to do it from hands-on experience"
"...the greatest change we need to make is from consumption to production, even if on a small scale, in our own gardens. If only 10% of us do this, there is enough for everyone.
Hence the futility of revolutionaries who have no gardens, who depend on the very system they attack, and who produce words and bullets, not food and shelter."

Subject: Permaculture at LIB
Hi Permaculture People,
We are gearing up for LIB and this year I had wanted to put a huge emphasis on permaculture. Unfortunately, only one workshop has been submitted regarding permaculture (Joan Stevens & Eric Werbalowsky). I have reached out through the newsletter, and written to past workshop providers, but to no avail. Do you know: where have all the permaculture people gone??
If you have any permi friends that you think are coming to LIB and would like to present, can you please have them submit an application online? http://2012.lightninginabottle.org/2012/workshops_note.html
Or workshops in the homesteading area as well, or not just permaculture but all types of gardening: gardening in an urban environment (balcony gardening, small space gardening, etc), medicinal gardens, making an herbal garden in the kitchen, or learning to sprout beans, or sprout anything...
Please send your communities, people need to learn!
Also, Ra - please update us on if you will want to do a permaculture area or not. We need to make a decision on this as a press release is going out and we are finalizing the map out of areas.
Bianca - are you still wanting to do a permaculture-associated opening ceremony?
Thank you all!
Shena
