Our project is called Aura Omelet: A Feast of Universal Vibrations and is the vision of Ms. Sunflower Andrew and her son Jahba. Ms. Andrew grew up on a ten acre farm in Hammond, Louisiana where her father and grandfather grew strawberries. Aura Omelet is in the process of conversion from the out of use farm to an interactive outdoor classroom with farm animals, a homeopathic herb garden, cultural events, outdoor education programs for youth and workshops for urban and rural farmers focusing on local and regional food security.

This year She and her son Jahba began to work with Our School at Blair Grocery- an independent school and urban farm in New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward. This summer, students from OSBG as well as hundreds of high school and college from New York, Arizona, Philadelphia, California, Mississippi, Vermont, and Florida worked in Hammond clearing weeds, building homes for 40 chickens and 3 goats, planting seeds, tilling for the farm field, and repairing the stage to turn the land into a thriving organic farm and community space.  Since the summer, we have begun to work with  retired agriculture teachers, contractors, electricians, musicians, farmers, and teachers from local schools who have donated their time to develop the space and work closely with young people from Hammond and New Orleans teaching skills that they can pass on to others as our community expands.

We envision...

A 10 Acre Outdoor Classroom for Healing , Cultural Expression, and Local Food Security . We Envision a Diverse Community of Learners, Healers, Artists, Farmers, and Empowered Young People Who Continue to Vision, Grow and Build on Our Center.
