Subject: March Madness!!! A bit more!!

Hello Friends,

March is going to be a busy month.  We hope that you will have a chance to come to at least one of our events.  We are putting in two edible gardens this month.  We will be transforming Mike and Vicki Shea's  front yard in Claremont.  We will also be helping the Claremont Methodist Church to put in a community garden.  We are excited about both of these events!!!  We will also be having a small space composting workshop with Elliot Arnold. Their will be a fundraiser for Tri-city Farm at the Press in Claremont too. All directions can be found at our website, claremontfoodnotlawns.com.

March 14 from 5:00-7:30

Food Waste Fermentation workshop led by Eliot Arnold 5:00

Eliot will be teaching a course on food waste fermentation. This system is ideal for people who do not have large spaces for compost piles, but still want to compost their kitchen waste. We will have a potluck at 6:15 following the workshop and a short meeting. Please bring a vegetarian dish to share, something to drink, and your own plate, and silverware. We are trying to make our events trashless. We also challenge each of you to create your dish from your own garden, or from items grown locally.

Directions

We will be meeting at Pitzer College in Claremont in the Gold Student Center (3)  – upstairs. I will have signs posted for everyone’s convenience. The best way to this area of campus (by car) is by way of Claremont Blvd., turning west on Ninth St. is (between Foothill and 6th St.). Once you have turned onto Ninth St., turn right into East Mesa Parking lot (15) and park. Walk towards building (3) and look for the signs.

March 22 - Shea's Lawn Removal

We will be putting in the irrigation on this day.  Please email us if you are interested.  We only need 10 people.  This is a great opportunity to learn about irrigation.

March 28 - Shea's Lawn Removal

We will be planting on this day. We need lots of help, and it would be a good day for kids too as long as their is an adult responsible for them at all times.

March 29 - Fund Raiser for Tri-City Farm

The Press Restraunt in Claremont will be having a fund raiser for Tri-City Farm.  Randy has been a huge support for our group, and I hope many of you can come out and support him.  Sugar Mountain Mama Serenade and Emad will provide music, while you dine.  There is a $10.00 cover to get in that will go to the Farm.  Their will also be a raffle with great prizes.  Let's go and celebrate our lawn transformation and support a great cause!

April 4 - Methodist Church Community Garden

The Claremont Methodist Church will be putting in a community garden with the help of our group.  We hope many of you can come and support this exciting event.  More info. to come.

We hope to see you!
